About Me

About the Craftsman

Our family business began in 1959 when my father founded Highland Radiator. Before opening the shop, he served as a U.S. Army Sergeant during World War II, working as a crane operator, mechanic, and radiator repairman. After the war, he held various jobs before deciding to build a business dedicated to automotive radiator repair.

I joined him part-time in 1964 while attending a local community college and learned the trade working on the radiators of another era — antique and classic vehicles from the early 1900s through the 1960s. Those early years built the foundation for the specialized work I continue today.

About ten years later, my younger brother Gary (who has since passed) joined the business. Together we researched and documented antique and classic radiators, many of which were originally manufactured in upstate New York. Being located in New York gave us unique access to that history and helped shape our expertise.

Over the years, we manufactured numerous honeycomb radiator cores in different styles and configurations — many of which remain available today.

Today, Antique Radiator Repair operates as a specialty radiator shop dedicated exclusively to the vintage automobile enthusiast. I repair and restore radiators for antique, vintage, classic, and muscle cars, farm equipment, aluminum radiators of all types, and air charge coolers for turbocharged applications.

Unlike most modern radiator shops, I continue to work on copper-brass radiators, aluminum radiators, and restoration projects others often decline. Every radiator receives individual attention. When possible, I preserve original tanks, fittings, and factory appearance while restoring reliable cooling performance.

This is not a high-volume operation. Each radiator is personally handled from inspection and teardown through cleaning, soldering, pressure testing, and final assembly. Whether the job requires a complete re-core or a careful repair, the goal remains the same: craftsmanship, originality, and lasting results.

With more than 60 years of radiator experience, I’ve helped restore hundreds of radiators and keep historic vehicles on the road.

If your radiator is leaking, overheating, or needs restoration or repair, I’d be happy to take a look. Send me photos or contact me to discuss your classic, performance, or specialty cooling system project.
